ENGR. SANJO KANMI-JONES

Sanjo Kanmi-Jones is a retired hockey player, played hockey for the Nigerian national hockey team for years. Now a trained mechanical engineer, still, as part of his passion for the growth of his chosen sport and for the wider sport family, works in many capacities across the world.

He was the first Nigerian to play professional hockey abroad (in 1996/1997 in the Italian Hockey League.Has gone on to work with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI Parma) teaching field hockey in schools and junior clubs.

A consultant to the Nigeria Hockey Federation, member of England Hockey Maker.

His desire is to see hockey take a pride of place in the drive to take violence off the streets and reduce crime rate. And a major dream is to see how hockey can find a way back into the elite sport and podium potential category in the Nigerian system. But generally, believes there is so much in Nigerian sport that can come out through the diaspora and this talent needs to be harnessed and organised properly and professionally.
